Sam Townsend
Brewing Equipment Specialist & Head Brewer

Sam Townsend is a Colorado native who was born in Fort Collins before moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 2010, he returned to Fort Collins, where he began exploring the local craft beer scene. After trying Funkwerks’ flagship Saison, he decided to try to recreate the beer at home. After that first brew, he was hooked on the process and began spending his free time making every kind of beer he could. After many years of home brewing, he took a job at Old Colorado Brewery in Wellington. He then cellared and brewed for Jessup Farm Barrel House before finally becoming the Head Brewer at the brewery that started it all: Funkwerks. When he’s not brewing, you can find him mountain biking, snowboarding, running around with his energetic Border Collie-Heeler named Wren, or sampling craft beer around town.
