Mentors have different expertise, professional designation, education and experience. UniteCraft has teamed with Crafting A Strategy to designate qualified consultants and mentors as CAS Member Consultants.

CAS Member Consultants have received a Crafting A Strategy business education. The Crafting A Strategy certification confirms that an individual has demonstrated business knowledge in the craft beverage alcohol industry beyond their core expertise.

What exactly is mentoring?

Mentoring is offered by independent experienced brewery and distillery community members to anyone who needs help with their business. By partnering with you one-on-one or in a small group, mentors support your success through offering expert advice, consulting on best practices, and education on small business topics.

Is Mentoring paid or free?

Mentoring is either a free or paid service, depending on the Mentor. Some Mentors like to give back to the community they love, and offer a specific number of hours free per month. Others may charge one-on-one and group rates. All Mentors set their own rates, availability and schedules.

How can a mentor help me?

Mentorship is an informal and informational partnership. While your mentor will provide valuable advice, they will also see the talents and abilities within you and believe in you more than you believe in yourself.

What can a mentor not do?

Mentors will not make decisions for you or complete important ownership tasks on your behalf. They also cannot provide tax or legal advice. However, mentors can provide clear guidance on what your options are so you can confidently make decisions and take positive action toward your own success.

What should I expect from a mentor?

Mentoring sessions are collaborative meetings between the brewery or distillery owner and the mentor. During these sessions, you can share your business goals, progress, challenges and questions. Mentors will offer advice, resources, and insights to help you gain clarity on your next best steps.

How long will a mentoring relationship last?

Mentoring relationships lasts as long as you need. This can be a few meaningful sessions to achieve a specific goal or overcome a particular challenge. Or, it can be a mentoring relationship that lasts for years, and your mentor because a trusted advisor for the life of your brewery or distillery.
